HailExpress Service now delivered in GoogleEarth Plug-In

WDT’s hailswaths embedded in Google Earth, a true 3D digital globe. See detailed city streets and zoom to the exact hail storm area for fastest post-storm response.

NORMAN, Okla. (May 26, 2009) - Immediately following a hail storm, insurance companies, roofers, paintless dent removal (PDR) and other post-storm service providers can now view HailExpress® Service in GoogleEarth (GE) for speedy information of where hail storms occurred overlaid with the properties potentially impacted. Use of HailExpress Service in Google Earth will allow for better evaluation of potential hail damage areas as the viewer can zoom pan or fly to the hailswath and see aerial street-level detail.

The GoogleEarth Plug-In integration is a major leap forward to merge HailExpress Service with the "killer" technology of GE’s mapping. HailExpress has been widely used in the insurance and roofing industry since being launched in 2003, and this new mapping capability to view hailswaths overlaid with demographic and geographic areas impacted by the storm, enhances post-storm decisions. HailExpress is available by midday (M-F) after the hail storm has occurred, for the prior 24-hour period and is accessed via the Internet. Data from all past storms are available immediately upon purchase. Customers choose access to a single state, multiple states or full continental US coverage for a single day, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. The hail path (or hailswath) is shown in color overlays on the map, showing where hail fell and the estimated size - ¾â€$ to 1 ¾â€$ diameter hail and 2â€$ or greater diameter hail.

HailExpress is an important tool for organizations and personnel that need to react to hailstorms. For example, if a massive hailstorm produces 2â€$ or greater hail in a highly rural area, evaluations can be made to determine if personnel in the area is sufficient to handle the resulting losses. If that same storm occurs over a highly populated area, dispatching of personnel and resources becomes critical to managing hail claims that include damage to roofs, siding, windows and automobiles. HailExpress in Google Earth is a valuable tool for a well-organized and timely response and restoration.
