I need to verify wind at a particular address location. What type of report can I get?
To know exact wind at a specific location, a wind sensor is needed at that exact spot. But wind sensors are not located at every address, so we rely upon nearby calibrated and quality assured ASOS (Automated Surface Observation Station) and AWOS (Automated Weather Observation Station) wind sensors.

While other weather companies will sell wind reports based on the nearest wind sensor, regardless of how far away it is, WDT typically will only provide a wind report if an ASOS or AWOS is within 10 miles of the address of interest. If an ASOS or AWOS is not within 10 miles, WDT may still be able to create a wind report using non-quality assured data from Cooperative sites (usually run by universities, local governments, etc) and/or CWOP data. Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP) is a public-private partnership of weather data collection by citizens, made available for weather services and homeland security. Contact us to learn if there is a wind sensor(s) near enough to your location.
