Certified Consulting Meteorologists (CCMs)
A CCM, or Certified Consulting Meteorologist is a professional
meteorologist who has an in-depth understanding of the atmosphere and
its behavior. Services and products provided by CCM’s are founded
upon their abilities to apply this specialized knowledge to a broad
range of related activities, issues, and inquiries. The essential attribute
of the CCM is a specialized knowledge of the field, combined with broad
experience, an integrated concept of service, and a clear and unwavering
adherence to the rules of professional conduct and service. The principal
purpose of the CCM program is to enable users of meteorological services
to select consultants with greater confidence in the quality and reliability
of the products and services they will receive. WDT is proud to
announce Dr. Richard Carpenter and J. William “Bill”
Conway both recently received their CCM status from the American
Meteorological Society.
Bill
Conway joined WDT in November 2000 as one of the founding employee of
WDT and is currently Vice President of Custom Technologies. He earned
his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology (with honors) at Metropolitan
State College in Denver, Colorado and his Master of Science in Meteorology
from the University of Oklahoma. His masters thesis was “The Role
of the Differential Reflectivity Column in Embryo Production and Hail
Growth”. Bill’s employment background includes six years
as a research associate at the parestigious National Severe Storms Laboratory
(NSSL) and four years as a forecast meteorologist with Aeromet, Inc
at the Kwajalien Missile Range in the Marshall Islands. Bill is a self-described
“weather nut”. In his spare time, Bill enjoys time

in the band at his local church, carpentry, diving, skiing, and various
sports.

Dr. Richard L. Carpenter, Jr., joined WDT in June 2006 as a founding
employee, and is currently Vice President for Numerical Modeling. Dr.
Carpenter earned his Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma
(OU) in 1994. His dissertation, “Entrainment and Detrainment in
Numerically Simulated Cumulus Congestus Clouds,” received OU’s
Outstanding Dissertation Award in the area of Engineering and Physical
Sciences. Dr. Carpenter also earned an M.S. in Meteorology from OU in
1989 and a B.S. with Honors in Atmospheric Science from the University
of California at Davis in 1985. He has been a Certified Consulting Meteorologist
(American Meteorological Society) since 2004. Prior to joining WDT,
